From the Nugget to the Red Kangaroo
Founded in 1899 in Western Australia, the Perth Mint launched its gold bullion program in 1986 with the Nugget design. Three years later, in 1989, it switched to the famous red kangaroo. The 2024 coin shows the effigy of King Charles III on the obverse, while the reverse carries an updated kangaroo design.
