Sitting Bull and a Charging Bison on Asahi's Liberty Trade Round
The Asahi Liberty Trade Buffalo silver round is a 1 oz round of .999 fine silver produced by Asahi, dated 2021 and supplied new. It was the first release in a series that gives classic coin designs a modern treatment, taking cues from the Buffalo nickel while changing both sides. Sitting Bull appears on the obverse and a charging bison fills the reverse.
Reworking the Buffalo Nickel
The Buffalo nickel, struck from 1913 to 1938, carried James Earle Fraser's Native American portrait and a standing bison. Asahi's round reworks both ideas. The obverse portrays Hunkpapa Lakota leader Sitting Bull, based on an 1885 portrait, in a traditional headdress against a Sioux textile pattern, with 2021 and the weight and purity. The reverse shows a bison charging across grassland with its horns lowered, surrounded by LIBERTY, INDEPENDENCE and FREEDOM.

Rounds, Premiums and Dealer Comparison
Silver rounds have no face value, so dealers price them from the silver content plus a premium that is often modest compared with sovereign coins. Quantity tiers can lower it further.
