About this product
SilverTowne's Take on the Classic Buffalo Nickel in 1 oz Silver
The SilverTowne Buffalo silver round is a 1 oz round of .999 fine silver made by the SilverTowne Mint and supplied new. Its design draws on James Earle Fraser's Buffalo nickel and the American Gold Buffalo coin, with a Native American profile on one side and an American bison on the other. Single rounds come in a plastic flip, and lots of 20 come in tubes.
Fraser's Design in a Private Round
Fraser's original artwork pairs a Native American profile with a bison, imagery closely tied to the American West. SilverTowne's version keeps both. The obverse shows the Native American profile with the word Liberty, and the reverse presents the buffalo encircled by the round's weight and purity. As a private round, it has no face value. Its appeal rests on the familiar design, which also inspired the gold American Buffalo coin, and on the troy ounce of .999 silver it holds.
