About this product
Historical Context – The Navajo Code Talkers
During World War II, hundreds of Navajo Marines developed a coded communications system built from their native language — a code so complex and secure that no enemy force ever broke it. From Guadalcanal to Iwo Jima, the Code Talkers transmitted thousands of vital messages with perfect accuracy, often under fire.As Major Howard Connor of the 5th Marine Division famously declared: “Were it not for the Navajos, the Marines would never have taken Iwo Jima.”
Their work transformed what was once suppressed — the Navajo language — into a symbol of freedom, resilience, and unity. The 100 Arizona Goldback proudly bears the seal of the Navajo Code Talker Museum, representing an official partnership with the Navajo Nation to honor this legacy.
