History of the Morgan Silver Dollar
First minted in 1878 and struck through 1904 (and briefly again in 1921), the Morgan Silver Dollar was designed by British-born engraver George T. Morgan. Featuring Lady Liberty on the obverse and a bold eagle with outstretched wings on the reverse, the coin embodies both the spirit of the American frontier and the emerging industrial age.
