About this product

Closing the Birds of Prey Series: The 2015 Canadian Great Horned Owl

The 2015 silver great horned owl coin is a 1 oz Royal Canadian Mint bullion coin of .9999 fine silver in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, with a $5 face value. It is the fourth and final release in the Birds of Prey series, joining earlier coins featuring the Peregrine Falcon, Bald Eagle and Red-Tailed Hawk. Its reverse shows the owl swooping down on its prey with wings spread wide.

Emily Damstra's Owl in Flight

Artist Emily Damstra designed every reverse in the Birds of Prey series, each showing its bird in full flight. Her great horned owl descends with outstretched wings, and her initials, ED, appear on the design along with CANADA, 9999 and FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR. The obverse uses Susanna Blunt's 2003 portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with ELIZABETH II, 2015, 5 DOLLARS and D.G. REGINA, Latin for By the Grace of God, Queen. The Royal Canadian Mint set a maximum mintage of 1,000,000 coins for this release.
