Its reverse uses color to show a brown wombat asleep on grassy ground with a small blue bird perched on its back. The maximum mintage is 2,500, and each coin comes in a themed presentation card.

Australia's Burrowing Marsupial

Wombats are short-legged, muscular marsupials native to Australia, with a sturdy build and strong digging ability. They tend to live alone and are mostly active at night, resting in burrows or shade during the day. The coin captures one of those daytime rests. Inscriptions on the reverse include WOMBAT, 2023, 1 oz 9999 SILVER and the P mint mark. The obverse carries Jody Clark's effigy of the late Queen Elizabeth II with the dates 1952-2022, AUSTRALIA and 1 DOLLAR.
