The 2023 1/10 oz Gold Britannia is a Brilliant Uncirculated bullion coin from the British Royal Mint containing one tenth of a troy ounce of .9999 fine gold, with a face value of 10 pounds. This 2023 coin carries Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, making it one of the last Britannias issued with her effigy.
Security Features on a Classic Design
The Gold Britannia program dates to 1987. Its reverse shows Britannia holding a trident and a Union Jack shield, along with BRITANNIA, the year and the weight and purity. Recent issues add four security features, namely a wave pattern in the background, crisp lines on the shield, a small latent image that switches from a padlock to a trident when tilted, and the Latin phrase DECUS ET TUTAMEN, meaning an ornament and a safeguard, around the inner rim. Individual coins come in plastic flips.
