Lilac Tones on the Perth Mint's 2024 Lunar Dragon
The 2024 Lilac Dragon silver coin is a colorized Brilliant Uncirculated coin from the Perth Mint, struck from one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver with a face value of 1 Australian dollar. The dragon on the reverse is printed in lilac, which sets this version apart from the plain silver bullion Dragon of the same year. It belongs to the Perth Mint's Lunar Series III.
Dragon, Pearl and a P125 Mark
The reverse shows a Chinese dragon with a flaming pearl, a traditional symbol of wisdom, along with the Chinese character for dragon and the inscription DRAGON 2024. A P125 mintmark marks the Perth Mint's 125th anniversary. The obverse carries Jody Clark's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the dates 1952-2022, the span of her reign, plus the weight, fineness and denomination. In Chinese culture the dragon is associated with strength, wisdom and good fortune.

Comparing Colorized Dragon Offers
Colorized versions usually carry a higher premium over the silver spot price than the standard bullion Dragon, and dealers do not all price that extra in the same way. Lining up published prices and any buyback quotes shows you the spread. For plain bullion options, see silver coins for sale, or browse the full set of Perth Mint Lunar silver coins.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does colorized mean on the 2024 Lilac Dragon coin?
Colorized means color has been applied to part of the design, here giving the dragon a lilac tone. The silver content stays the same, one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver.
How do dealers set the price of a colorized Lunar Dragon?
They begin with the spot price of one ounce of silver and add a premium for the color work, the design and current supply. That premium varies by dealer, so comparing published prices side by side is useful before you decide.
