About this product
Honoring the virtue Hospitalitas—Hospitality—this artwork transports viewers to the golden age of the American highway. A young woman sits effortlessly on the hood of a classic 1960 Chevrolet Impala, evoking the charm of small-town America during the height of Route 66 travel. Her relaxed, confident posture reflects the timeless Oklahoma tradition of greeting strangers as friends.
A soaring hawk overhead suggests freedom and the excitement of new horizons, while the Oklahoma Rose, delicately placed in her hair and lap, symbolizes the state’s enduring kindness. These design elements honor the countless moments when Oklahomans have shared food, shelter, and warmth with travelers. The scene’s nostalgic glow recalls an era when the open road offered both adventure and connection. Inscribed at the bottom of the note is the heartfelt message: “The open road knows no strangers.''
