About this product
History of the Proof Platinum American Eagle
Introduced in 1997, the Proof Platinum American Eagle expanded the U.S. Mint’s prestigious American Eagle program beyond gold and silver to include platinum — one of the rarest and most valuable precious metals. Each proof coin in the series combines investment-grade purity with fine numismatic artistry, often featuring changing reverse designs that reflect America’s democratic values and constitutional principles.
From the Vistas of Liberty series (1998–2002) to the Foundations of Democracy and Preamble to the Constitution series (2006–2014), every design tells a story of national pride and progress. The smaller 1/10 oz denomination provides collectors and investors with a more accessible way to own fine platinum while enjoying the same superior quality and artistry as the full-ounce editions.
