$10 Liberty Head Gold Eagle MS 61: Gobrecht's Coronet Design

The $10 Liberty Head gold eagle MS 61 comes from a series that became one of the most widely circulated gold coins of its era. Each coin is struck in .900 fine gold with an actual gold weight of 0.4838 troy ounces, and NGC certifies it Mint State 61, a grade for coins without circulation wear. The year and label vary, and holders may have sticker residue or worn holograms.

No Motto and With Motto Varieties

Christian Gobrecht designed the Liberty Head Eagle, which was minted from 1838 to 1907. Lady Liberty wears a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by 13 stars, while the reverse shows a heraldic eagle with arrows and an olive branch. In 1866, the motto In God We Trust was added to the design, creating two varieties collectors call No Motto and With Motto. Since this is a random-year listing, your coin could be either type.
