The 2010-W Proof Gold Buffalo: Fraser's Classic in 24-Karat Gold

The 2010-W proof Gold Buffalo brings James Earle Fraser's classic Buffalo Nickel design to a full ounce of pure gold. The U.S. Mint struck it at West Point from one troy ounce of 24-karat (.9999 fine) gold. Its proof finish, created by striking specially prepared blanks, sets frosted designs over mirror-like fields. It comes in a capsule inside the original U.S. Mint box with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

America's First Pure Gold Coin for the Public

The Gold American Buffalo was first offered in 2006, and it was the first coin from the U.S. Mint made of pure 24-karat gold for the public. Its design revives James Earle Fraser's classic Buffalo Nickel, with a Native American profile on the obverse and an American bison on the reverse. On this 2010-W coin, the W mintmark points to West Point, where it was struck. The original box and COA come with the coin, though the outer box may show signs of wear.
