The Unicorn of Scotland, featured on this coin, is a mythical beast known for its healing abilities and has been a part of the Scottish Coat of Arms since the 12th century. The reverse of the coin showcases a stylized design of the Unicorn of Scotland. The magical creature is depicted standing on its rear legs with its front hooves dangling over the royal badge of England, which includes the image of the Lion of England. The obverse features the latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, created by Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark in 2015.
