The 2020 1/20 oz gold Maple Leaf is a Royal Canadian Mint coin containing one-twentieth of a troy ounce of .9999 fine gold, about 1.56 grams, in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. It carries a face value of $1 CAN and comes individually sealed in plastic. Its small size makes it a common pick for gifts and for people buying gold for the first time.

A National Symbol in Miniature

Even at one-twentieth of an ounce, the coin carries the full Maple Leaf design. The reverse shows a detailed sugar maple leaf set against fine radial lines, with CANADA, OR PUR and the weight and purity around the rim. OR PUR is French for pure gold. The obverse features Susanna Blunt's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing jewelry, also over a radial-line background, with her name, the denomination and the year. The plastic seal protects the surfaces from fingerprints and handling marks.
