First Day of Issue Gold Buffalo From 2021, Graded MS 70
The 2021 gold buffalo PCGS MS 70 FDOI is a one-ounce American Buffalo of .9999 fine gold from the U.S. Mint, graded a perfect Mint State 70 by PCGS with the First Day of Issue designation. FDOI links the coin to the release day of the 2021 issue, and the label design may vary from the one pictured.
A 1,550-Pound Model
The bison on the reverse is traditionally said to be modeled on Black Diamond, a 1,550-pound American buffalo at New York's Central Park Zoo in the 1910s, shown standing and facing left. On the obverse, James Earle Fraser's Native American man faces right in profile, the feathers and braid in his hair in fine detail, with features inspired by three chiefs who posed for the sculptor. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, the date, the F initial, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST and $50.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a First Day of Issue Gold Buffalo different from a First Strike?
First Day of Issue ties the coin to the release day itself, while First Strike covers coins PCGS received within its early-release window, generally the first 30 days. The metal and design are identical, and the designation concerns timing.
Why do dealers charge different prices for a 2021 MS 70 FDOI Gold Buffalo?
Each dealer adds its own premium over the spot price of gold for the coin, its PCGS grade and the FDOI label. Premiums also shift with quantity, so a side-by-side view of published prices shows which offers sit closest to spot.
