The 2022 2 oz piedfort dingo silver coin is a Perth Mint coin holding 2 troy ounces of .9999 fine silver in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, with a $2 AUD face value. Piedfort means it is struck much thicker than a regular coin of the same weight. It is the fifth release in the Next Generation series and shows a mother dingo sitting with her pup.
Dingo Pups and a Hidden Security Mark
Dingoes are Australia's lean, hardy wild dogs, built for agility, speed and stamina. Pups leave the den for the first time at about three weeks old and stay close to their parents while they learn the landscape. On the reverse, a mother dingo sits with her attentive pup among wildflowers. The coin also carries a micro-engraved security feature, visible only under magnification. The obverse shows Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The maximum mintage is 75,000.
