About this product

The 2023 Peace Silver Dollar: De Francisci's Contest-Winning Design

The 2023 Peace silver dollar carries a design that first appeared more than a century ago. Struck by the U.S. Mint at Philadelphia, it contains .859 troy ounces of .999 fine silver and has a $1 face value. Each uncirculated coin, meaning one that never entered everyday use, comes in a box with a Certificate of Authenticity. The maximum release was 275,000 coins.

A Short History of the Peace Dollar

The Peace Dollar was first struck in 1921, replacing the Morgan Dollar. It was produced through 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935 before the U.S. Mint revived it in 2021. Anthony de Francisci won the design contest, and his left-facing Liberty and bald eagle holding an olive branch still appear on the coin today. The 2023 issue carries no mintmark, reflecting its Philadelphia origin.
