The 230 Privy Version of the Flowing Hair Medal, Graded MS 70 AR

The Flowing Hair 230 privy silver medal is a 2024 U.S. Mint medal of one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, recreating the 1794 Flowing Hair dollar and bearing a special 230 privy mark. PCGS graded it MS 70 with the Advance Releases (AR) designation and placed it in a holder with a Flowing Hair label. Only 1,794 of the medals carry the privy, matching the year of the original dollar.

Robert Scot's 1794 Design and the Privy Mark

The original 1794 dollar was designed by Robert Scot, the U.S. Mint's first Chief Engraver. This medal reproduces his right-facing Liberty with flowing hair, surrounded by 15 stars, along with the 2024 date and the 230 privy. The reverse shows an eagle with spread wings inside a wreath and the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. PCGS uses Advance Releases for pieces that reached approved distributors ahead of the official public release, and MS 70 means no imperfections under 5x magnification.
