Struck at West Point, Graded NGC MS 70 Early Releases
The 2024 West Point Silver Eagle MS 70 is a one troy ounce, .999 fine silver American Eagle struck at the U.S. Mint's West Point facility and graded a perfect Mint State 70 by NGC with the Early Releases designation. The (W) in the name reflects where it was made, since the coin itself does not carry a W mintmark. NGC's West Point label records that origin.
Early Releases and West Point Origin
NGC's Early Releases designation applies to coins it received within its early-release window, generally the first 30 days of release. Because bullion Silver Eagles are struck at more than one facility without a mintmark, the West Point label identifies where this coin came from. The obverse shows Weinman's Walking Liberty with oak and laurel branches, and the reverse carries Emily Damstra's eagle descending with wings spread, sculpted by Michael Gaudioso.
