Silver Eagles

Introduced in 1986, the American Silver Eagle Coin stands as a pinnacle of U.S. minting excellence. Initially minted to distribute silver widely, the Silver Eagle has grown in popularity annually, with the U.S. Mint now producing approximately 40 million of these $1 face value coins each year. Composed of 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the authenticity and quality of each Silver Eagle coin are backed by the U.S. Government. Available in uncirculated, proof, and burnished finishes, along with certified variants, the American Silver Eagle offers diverse options for collectors. The proof versions undergo a double striking process, enhancing their luster and detail, while the burnished coins feature a distinctive matte finish, struck on specially prepared blanks.

The American Silver Eagle is celebrated for its iconic designs. The obverse features the "Walking Liberty" design by Adolph A. Weinman, initially seen on half-dollar coins from 1916 to 1947, and is regarded as one of the most beautiful designs in U.S. coinage. It depicts Lady Liberty moving forward toward a new dawn, draped in the American flag, with oak and laurel branches in her arm, symbolizing civil and military glory. The inscriptions "Liberty," "In God We Trust," and the year of minting elegantly frame this design. The reverse, crafted by John Mercanti, showcases a majestic heraldic eagle with wings spread wide, clutching arrows, and an olive branch, signifying America's strength and desire for peace. Surrounded by 13 stars, representing the original colonies, and inscribed with "United States of America," along with the coin’s specifications, this design embodies the spirit of freedom and patriotism.
