About this product

The 2025 Gold Eagle MS 70: A Perfect Grade in the Series' 40th Year

Released in the series' 40th year of production, the 2025 Gold Eagle MS 70 pairs a perfect grade with the official gold bullion coin of the United States. The U.S. Mint strikes it from 22-karat (.9167 fine) gold, and it contains one troy ounce of gold. NGC certifies it MS 70, a perfect Mint State grade with no post-production imperfections visible under 5x magnification, and seals it in an NGC holder.

Forty Years of the American Gold Eagle

The American Gold Eagle was first introduced in 1986, following the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985, and it is the official gold bullion coin of the United States. Its obverse features Augustus Saint-Gaudens' iconic Lady Liberty, a design that gives the coin its classic look. The 2025 release continues the series in its 40th year of production. Because 22-karat gold includes a small amount of alloy, the coin weighs a bit more than one ounce while still holding a full troy ounce of gold.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 2025 Gold Eagle pure gold?

No. It is struck in 22-karat (.9167 fine) gold, an alloy, but it still contains one full troy ounce of gold. The small share of alloy adds a little to the coin's total weight.

What does NGC MS 70 mean?

MS 70 is a perfect Mint State grade. It means no post-production imperfections are visible under 5x magnification. NGC certifies the coin at that grade and seals it in a protective holder.
