Mukwa the Bear on a 2026 Royal Canadian Mint Proof
The 2026 Clan Animals Bear silver coin is a colorized Proof from the Royal Canadian Mint, struck from three-quarters of a troy ounce of .9999 fine silver with a face value of 15 dollars. It is the second coin in the three-part Clan Animals series and honors Mukwa, the Bear, a clan animal in Anishinabek teachings. Mintage is limited to 10,000 coins.
Art by Mark Nadjiwan
The reverse was designed by Mark Nadjiwan, a member of the Neyaashiinigmiing Unceded First Nation in Ontario, in his first collaboration with the Royal Canadian Mint. Color brings out a red sun, flowing blue water and earth-toned land around the bear, linking the Anishinabek people, the land and the spiritual world. In these teachings, Mukwa stands for protection, healing and peacemaking. The obverse shows the effigy of King Charles III with CANADA 2026, and the coin comes in a black clamshell box.
