About this product

Add a historic and highly collectible gold coin to your portfolio with the $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle Type I, minted from 1850 to 1866 by the U.S. Mint. Struck from .900 fine gold and containing 0.9675 troy oz of gold, this was the largest denomination authorized for circulation following the California Gold Rush, which created the need for higher-value gold coinage. Designed by James B. Longacre, this Type I version is distinguished by the absence of the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the reverse.
