2019 Gold Buffalo in PCGS MS 69 With First Strike Designation
The 2019 gold buffalo MS 69 First Strike is a 1 oz American Buffalo struck in .9999 fine gold by the U.S. Mint and graded Mint State 69 by PCGS. The First Strike label shows that PCGS received the coin within its early-release window, generally the first 30 days of the 2019 issue, and MS 69 marks it as near perfect.
From the Buffalo Nickel to Gold
Both sides of the Gold Buffalo come from James Earle Fraser's designs for the nickel struck from 1913 to 1938, modified slightly for the gold coin. The Native American portrait blends features of Big Tree, Iron Tail and Two Moons, with LIBERTY at the upper right and the date and F on the shoulder. The reverse bison is traditionally identified as Black Diamond. The series began in 2006, and the 2019 coin keeps the same .9999 fine standard.
