About this product

St. Helena's 10 oz East India Company Coin Bar, Dated 2021

The 2021 St. Helena 10 oz East India Company silver coin bar is a rectangular coin of .999 fine silver weighing ten troy ounces, in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Issued by St. Helena with a face value of 10 pounds, it honors the island's long history with the East India Company. The reverse shows a company sailing ship beneath the EIC chop mark.

The Company That Governed St. Helena

The East India Company formed in England in 1600 to trade with the East Indies and later traded mostly with China and the Indian subcontinent. In 1657 Oliver Cromwell granted the company a charter to govern St. Helena, which it went on to settle, and control passed to the Crown in 1834. The reverse shows a company ship on the high seas with nautical lines behind it, the chop mark above and THE EAST INDIA COMPANY LONDON. The obverse carries Queen Elizabeth II with ST. HELENA and 2021.
