About this product

Second Year of the New Reverse: 2022 Eagle, PCGS MS 69

This 2022 Silver Eagle MS 69 First Strike coin, graded by PCGS, contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and sits in a holder with an American flag label. The 2022 date is the first full year of the Type 2 reverse, and the MS 69 grade means only small flaws are visible under magnification. First Strike indicates PCGS received the coin within its early-release window.

Emily Damstra's Landing Eagle

The reverse on 2022 Silver Eagles was designed by Emily Damstra and sculpted by U.S. Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. It shows a bald eagle descending to land with an oak branch held in its talons, ringed by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR and the weight and purity. On the obverse, Liberty walks toward the sun carrying oak and laurel branches, an updated version of Weinman's design from the 1916-1947 half dollar.

Reading the Premium on a 2022 MS 69

Many buyers look at MS 69 coins because the grading premium is usually smaller than for MS 70, while the silver content is identical. Dealers set their own premiums over spot, so the published prices here show how far apart they are. Browse more silver eagle options or the wider U.S. silver coins range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between MS 69 and MS 70 on a 2022 Silver Eagle?

Both grades are near the top of the 70-point scale. MS 70 means no imperfections are visible under 5x magnification, while MS 69 allows a few minor flaws that are hard to see without magnification.

How is the 2022 PCGS MS 69 First Strike Silver Eagle priced?

Dealers begin with the spot value of one ounce of silver and add a premium for grading, the MS 69 result and the First Strike flag label. The premium varies, so compare published prices before choosing.
