First Day of Issue, Perfect Grade: The 2023 PCGS Silver Eagle
The 2023 Silver Eagle PCGS MS 70 FDOI is a one troy ounce, .999 fine silver American Eagle graded a perfect Mint State 70 by PCGS with a First Day of Issue label. FDOI links the coin to the release day for 2023 Silver Eagles. As a bullion strike, it carries no mintmark, and its reverse is Emily Damstra's landing eagle.
An Artist Infusion Program Design
Emily Damstra created the current reverse as a member of the U.S. Mint's Artist Infusion Program, and Michael Gaudioso sculpted it. The eagle opens its wings wide to slow its descent while carrying an oak branch to strengthen its nest. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ, FINE SILVER and ONE DOLLAR. The 2023 coin marks the third year of this design, paired with Weinman's Walking Liberty obverse.

What Moves the Price of an FDOI Eagle
Dealers start with the silver spot price and add a premium for the perfect grade and the FDOI designation, which some collectors seek for each year. That premium varies widely from seller to seller. Compare the published prices here, check other silver eagle labels, or browse U.S. silver coins.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an FDOI label change the silver content of a 2023 Eagle?
No. The FDOI label and MS 70 grade describe the coin's release timing and condition. The coin still contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the same as any 2023 bullion Silver Eagle.
How do dealers price a 2023 PCGS MS 70 FDOI Silver Eagle?
They take the spot price of one ounce of silver and add a premium for grading, the perfect score and the First Day of Issue label. Each dealer's premium differs, so a side-by-side comparison of published prices helps.
