Origins of the Program Behind the 2014 Silver Eagle Roll
This 2014 Silver Eagle roll of 20 contains twenty one-ounce American Eagles from the U.S. Mint, all dated 2014 and all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each coin is .999 fine silver with a $1 face value, so a full roll carries 20 troy ounces of silver. The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States and is struck only in the one-ounce size.
From Stockpile Silver to a National Coin
The Silver Eagle grew out of a federal plan in the 1970s and 1980s to sell silver held in the Defense National Stockpile. Legislation introduced in 1982 and amended in 1985 turned that silver into a bullion coin, and the U.S. Mint released the first Silver Eagles on November 24, 1986. Coins dated 2014 continue the original pairing of Weinman's Walking Liberty and Mercanti's heraldic eagle, with 13 stars above the eagle's head.

Checking 2014 Roll Prices
A 2014 roll is priced at 20 ounces of silver at spot plus the dealer's premium, the markup that covers minting, distribution and the dealer's own costs. Bullion Hunters shows those published premiums next to each other with tiered pricing and buyback quotes. Compare against other silver eagle dates, or browse U.S. silver coins.
Frequently Asked Questions
When did the American Silver Eagle program begin?
The U.S. Mint released the first American Silver Eagles on November 24, 1986. The program grew out of a federal plan to sell silver from the Defense National Stockpile, and 2014 coins continue that series.
What goes into the price of a 2014 Silver Eagle roll?
There are two parts. One is the silver value, based on the spot price for 20 ounces, and the other is a premium set by the dealer. Since premiums differ by seller and by quantity tier, comparing published prices side by side is the reliable approach.
