Top Grade, Early Release: 2023 Silver Eagle PCGS MS 70 Flag
This 2023 Silver Eagle MS 70 First Strike coin holds one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and was graded a perfect Mint State 70 by PCGS, then housed with an American flag First Strike label. The First Strike designation means PCGS received it within its early-release window, generally the first 30 days of release. MS 70 is the highest grade on the 70-point scale.
The 2023 Eagle at Its Sharpest
A perfect grade means the graders found no imperfections under 5x magnification, so fine details such as the eagle's feathers and Liberty's gown appear as struck. The reverse, by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, has the eagle swooping down with an oak branch in its talons. Weinman's Walking Liberty remains on the obverse, striding toward the sun with oak and laurel branches. The 2023 issue was the third year for this pairing of designs.

Pricing the Step Up to MS 70
The difference between this coin and an MS 69 First Strike lies mostly in the grading premium above the silver spot price. Dealers price that step differently, so lining up published offers is the quickest way to see who is closer to spot. See more silver eagle grades, or browse U.S. silver coins.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the First Strike label on a 2023 PCGS Silver Eagle tell you?
It shows that PCGS received the coin within its early-release window, generally the first 30 days after the 2023 Silver Eagle was released. The label carries an American flag design alongside the MS 70 grade.
How are 2023 PCGS MS 70 First Strike Silver Eagles priced?
Dealers take the spot price of one ounce of silver and add a premium for grading, the perfect grade and the flag label. Premiums vary by dealer, so comparing published prices helps you judge each offer.
