The obverse of the coin features a design by Otto Schultz depicting President Paul Kruger, who played a crucial role in the movement to restore independence for the South African Republic. Surrounding Kruger's left-facing profile are the inscriptions "SUID-AFRIKA" and "SOUTH AFRICA." On the reverse, a springbok antelope leaps through a grassy plain, representing the National Animal of South Africa. The reverse also includes the inscriptions "KRUGERRAND," "2021," and the weight and purity of the coin.
