The 2023 8 Gram Gold Panda: The Treetop Design in a Larger Size
The 2023 8 gram Chinese Gold Panda is a .999 fine gold coin in Brilliant Uncirculated condition with a face value of 100 yuan, sealed in plastic. Eight grams is roughly a quarter troy ounce, which makes this the middle size in the Panda bullion lineup. It shares the 2023 reverse of two pandas, one at the top of a tree and one climbing toward it.
Same Design, Bigger Coin
Since 1982, the Gold Panda series has featured China's giant panda, a national symbol native to the Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu mountain ranges. The series moved to metric weights in 2016, and 8 grams has been one of the standard sizes since that change. On the 2023 reverse, inscriptions read 8 g, Au .999 and 100 yuan beside the two pandas. The Temple of Heaven fills the obverse, with Chinese characters for People's Republic of China above and the date beneath.

Weighing 8 Gram Panda Offers

Frequently Asked Questions
How much gold is in an 8 gram Gold Panda?
The coin weighs 8 grams and is .999 fine, so it holds just under 8 grams of pure gold, about a quarter of a troy ounce. It carries a face value of 100 yuan.
Why do 8 gram Panda prices differ between dealers?
All dealers start from the same spot price of gold, then add their own premium based on costs, demand for the year and the quantity bought. Comparing published prices side by side shows which premium is smaller.
